Litter Prevention

  • Under the Litter Promulgation/ Act 2008 and Litter Decree 2010, no one is allowed to deposit any kind of litter and can be charged according to the type of rubbish deposited and whether by individual or company.
  • The enforcement of the Decree is a way of keeping our streets clean and to promote healthy living.
  • If the Litter Prevention officers finds a person or a corporate body or any other organization or from any vehicle depositing litter in a public place or if he or she has caused to believe that a person or corporate body or any other organization has deposited litter in any such place than the officer may ask to remove the litter and place in the receptacle nearby or give time frame of not exceeding 24 hours to remove he litter or may ask of their Identification Card and make the fine accordingly to be paid within the specified time.
  • The fine amount ranges from $40.00 to $5,000.00 depending on the type of litter and by individual or corporate body.
