When there is sale or a transfer of a rateable land, under the Local Government Act, cap 125, Part XI Collection of Rates, the Council needs to be notified about the sale or transfer of the rateable property within one month after the transaction date.
The Act reads as follows;
Subject to the provisions of this section;
Subject to the provisions of paragraph above, it shall not be necessary for a mortgagee to give notice of any mortgage nor of the discharge thereof.
PLEASE NOTE
Upon the sale of a Land which has outstanding rates, according to act the new owner will be responsible for the payments of any arrears plus interest owing on the land.
