Waiver and Concession

Under the provisions of the Local Government Act 80, Cap 125, in case of hardships faced by rate payers, the Ministry has the power to write of rates including interests which have been levied in respect of the rateable property, payment of which rates and interests are in arrears.

The Rate Payer may submit to the Ba Town Council a letter of request with evidence of facing difficulties to pay the rates, for the waiver of rates payable by the rate payer.

The application made by the Rate Payer will then be properly documented and verified by the Council to ensure that the application is genuine and the Rate Payer is indeed facing difficulties in paying rates.

A recommendation will then be prepared and sent to the Ministry of Local Government, the result of which will then be decided by the Minister.
