Disaster Prevention

The Ba Town Council, in conjunction with relevant stakeholders like the rate payers, business communities, market vendors, National Fire Authority, Energy Fiji Ltd, Water Authority of Fiji, Fiji Roads Authority, Telecom, Bus companies and the District Officer generate a plan that covers details from preparation to reconstruction phases after a disaster.

This plan has an objective to save lives, reduce damages from possible and succeeding impacts of a natural disaster and ways on how to recover after the disaster.

Some of the tasks that this team carry out in order to prepare for a disaster are;

·         Update contact list for staff, stakeholders, government departments and business sectors.

·         Update list of evacuation centers with District Office

·         Prepare a detailed map using Google Earth

·         Keep in touch with the Fiji Metrological services team

·         Preparation of early warning and evacuation plans

 Preparation of warning information and relaying with the assistance of Fiji Police Force and National Fire Authority
